Carolina Moonseed Vine
I found that cool vine with the red berries growing wild all over Birmingham last week so I worked it into an order I had to do. I don't usually work with such intense color but I really enjoyed finding flowers that bounced off the carolina moonseed vine nicely. I discovered the name of the vine through a semi-obsessive Google search. You can identify whether or not a vine is moonseed by looking at the seed inside the berry. Just crush the berry and rinse off the seed quite well. It should look kind of like a moon (I guess)...I think it looks more like a nautilus shell. Anyway, it was a interesting discovery. Again, you never know what you'll find when you just keep your eyes open. Curiosity may have killed the cat but it makes me feel alive and full of wonder so I'll keep at it; I hope you will too.
